Australian everyday coins.
Coins were first produced in Australia in 1910 using pounds, shillings & pence and minted throughout Australia and around the world.
In 1965, the Royal Australian Mint opened as Australia prepared to transition to the decimal system on February 14, 1966.To date the Mint has produced over 15 billion circulating coins made from base metals such as copper, nickel and aluminium.
The first 50c coin minted in 1966 was made of 80% silver, making them worth more than their face value.
While our coins ordinarily feature reverse designs of Australia fauna or an Aboriginal elder on the $2 coin, many commemorative coins are released to recognise people or events which have made a significant impact on Australian society.
This folder has spaces for 1 each of the circulating denominations - $2, $1, 50c, 20c, 10c, 5c.Full colour album/folder.
