The Perth Mint has just released this stunning 1/4oz gold proof coin featuring the 2026 kookaburra design.

Beloved the world over, the Perth Mint's signature coin series celebrates one of Australia's largest kinfisher, the kookaburra.

Beloved the world over, this signature coin series celebrates the kookaburra, native to Ausrtalia, the kookaburra is known for its distinctive, laughter-like call that echoes through the bush.

Often seen perched on branches scanning for prey, it symbolises the spirit of the Australian wilderness.

As a member of the kingfisher family, the kookaburra is unique in that it rarely eats fish, referring insects, small reptiles, and even small mammals.

Its iconic call is often associated with the sounds of the Australian outback, making it a beloved emblem of the country's natural heritage

The coin's reverse features a majestic kookaburra soaring above a riverbed, surrounded by rugged grasslands, trees, and rocky terrain.

The reverse also includes the inscription 'KOOKABURRA', the coin's weight, purity, fineness and 2026 year-date, along with The Perth Mint's 'P' Mintmark.

Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1/4oz of 99.9% pure gold, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 500 of the Australian Kookaburra 2026 1/4oz Gold Proof Coins.

The coin's obverse bears the Daniel Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, the monetary denomination, the weight and fineness, and the 2026 year-date.

Each coin is housed in a classic display case with a wooden lid. 

Packaged within an illustrated shipper, each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
