2026 $2 Australian Lunar Series III - Year of the Horse 2oz Silver Antiqued Coin 

Highlighting the seventh animal in the Chinese lunar calendar, this 2oz silver antiqued coin is a beautiful tribute to the lunar horse and represents the very best in minting excellence and design.

According to Chinese tradition, the emperor ordered a great race between all the animals of Earth to determine who should occupy 23 positions in the lunar calendar.

The resilient horse occupies the seventh position in the lunar calendar as a result of the race. 

Those born under the sign of the Chinese Lunar Horse in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990 and every 12th preceding year are said to be independent, charismatic and love a sense of adventure. Being passionate and spirited, they are gifted with natural charm and an ability to inspire others.

The coin's reverse portrays a striking scene of galloping horses thundering through splashing water, from the distance to the foreground, surrounded by a canopy of ginkgo branches with leaves.

Also included on the design is the inscription '2026' and The Perth Mint's 'P' Mintmark.

This stunning piece has an antiqued surface, a coin treatment that tones the natural lustre of silver to convey the look of an aged artefact.

As the coin has been 'antiqued' by hand, the appearance of each coin in the limited mintage may vary.

When aligned with the other shippers from the Australian Lunar Series II, the illustration forms a diorama depicting all 12 animals in the order they completed The Great Race, a traditional Chinese story about the creation of the lunar calendar.
