2026 $1 Kangaroo Series - Mob of Six Roos 1oz Frosted Fine Silver Uncirculated Coin in Capsule.
For the 2026 release in the long-running Kangaroo Series, the Royal Australian Mint has just released the Mob of Six - a tribute to six decades of Australian decimal currency.
Kangaroos occupy a special place in Australia's numismatic history.
When the first Australian coins were minted in 1910, the kangaroo appeared along with the emu in the coat of arms on the threepence, sixpence, shilling and florin (Most of these coins were later redesigned)
In 1938, a leaping kangaroo was introduced to the penny, and the following year it leapt onto the halfpenny as well.
Following the changeover to decimal currency in 1966, the kangaroo appeared on the fifty-cent coin, again within the coat of arms.
When the one-dollar coin entered the scene in 1984, replacing the one-dollar note, it featured a mob of five kangaroos.
This iconic design by Stuart Devlin captures both the stillness and dynamism of these quintessentially Australian animals.
This 2026 $1 1oz Silver Frosted Uncirculated Coin adds a sixth kangaroo to Devlin's design, representing the sixth decade of decimal currency.
The coin's reverse features a special mob of six kangaroos design, commemorating six decades of Australian decimal currency.
Each coin's obverse features the Daniel Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
