The Perth Mint is just released this happy keepsake celebrating the Year of the Snake.
Craft from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver, the coin includes the Chinese character (FU) meaning prosperity and floral motifs.
Chinese or lunar new year, also called the Spring Festival in China, is the most important of the traditional festivals celebrated by Asian cultures throughout the world. It is a time for families to reunite, as well as honour deities and ancestors.
The Chinese character (FU) holds profound significance in Chinese culture throughout the world. 'FU" conveys happiness, blessings and good fortune, making it a cherished symbol with enduring relevance. The pictorial "FU" symbol continues to be a prominent motif in contemporary art and design, specially during the Lunar New Year.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the 2025 Year of the Snake "FU" - Prosperity 1/2oz Silver Coloured Coin in Card out of a total mintage of 200,000.
The coin's reverse features a coloured representation of the Chinese character "FU" adorned with vibrant red, orange and yellow floral motif. Surrounding the snake symbol are intricate geometric floral pattern.
Included in the design is the inscription 'YEAR OF THE SNAKE 2025", along with The Perth Mint's 'P' Mintmark.
The obverse features the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III. Also included are the monetary denomination, and the weight and fineness.
