His Majesty King Charles III was born in 1948 at Buckingham Palace during the reign of his maternal grandfather, King George VI.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022, King Charles acceded to the throne, becoming sovereign of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
With Queen Camilla he was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023 by the Archbishop of Canterbury according to ancient rites and traditions, King Charles was the 40th British monarch to be crowned, and at 74 years of age, also the oldest.
The stamp was issued in 2023 and features the official coronation portrait of King Charles III, who is wearing St Edwards crown.
The coin's obverse bears the Dan Thomas effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
Issued as legal tender under the Australia Currency Act 1965, this uncirculated coin is housed in a beautifully designed card inside an illustrated envelope.
