2025 $1 Ngana Nyitting Green Emu Coin & Stamp Cover PNC
The title of this stamp issue, Ngana Nyitting, translates as 'My Dreaming' in the Yamatji (Ngang) and Nyungar (Nyitting) languages. Artist Kevin Bynder was born in Boorloo / Perth in 1975 to a Whadjuk-Yued Nyungar mother and a Widi-Badimia Yamatji father.
The Boodja (Country) of the Yued people is located 250 km north of Boorloo / Perth and the north-east of Balladong Boodja. The town of Moora is where Kevin's maternal Nana is from. She was born amongst the trees near a settlement called Walebing. This stamp shows Kevin's Nana's Country.
The Yonga (kangaroo) and Weitj ( emu) are major sources of traditional food which Kevin's ancestors would hunt. The bottlebrush tree awas used as medicine and its sweet nectar was a source of food. Also shown are the waterways, which were amde by creator, Waagyl (the Rainbow Serpent), and at the centre is the Ngaangk (sun), the giver of t life. The Mardaa (ochre), used for paint in ceremonies, can be seen at the bottom.
The coin's reverse represents an illustration of Yonga (kangaroo), Weitj (emu) and bottlebrush flower. As well as the artist's initials and the year-date, the reverse also incorporates The Perth Mint's 'P' Mintmark.
Issued as legal tender under the Australia Currency Act 1965, this uncirculated coin is housed in a beautifully designed card inside an illustrated envelope.
Affixed to the envelope is a $1.70 official Australia Post stamps. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity.
