2024 50c 50 Year Anniversary of Countdown Coin & Stamp Cover PNC

Countdown roared onto ABC television in 1974, changing Australian pop culture forever. For more than a decade, we collectively tuned in every Sunday night to watch the latest bands and emerging artists, and to count down all the hits n the journey to discover which artist was number one.

The influence Countdown and legendary host, Ian 'Molly" Meldrum had on the Australian music scene was immense, helping build the careers and fanbase of both homegrown performers and a new breed of international artists, taking artists like ABBA, Blondie and Madonna to the number one spot on the charts.

Relive all the nostalgia and memories of one of Australia's most popular music programs, as Australia Post celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Countdown.

Issued as Australian legal tender, the uncirculated cupro nickel coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with circular window revealing the coin's reverse and obverse designs.

Each coin's reverse features a design depicting a coloured Countdown Coin.

Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post $1.50 Countdown stamp. The envelope is postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity.
