2024 $2 Double Dragon with Mother of Pearl 2oz Silver Proof Coin.

The dragon commands the highest respect in Chinese culture. For thousands of years, it was associated with the emperor and his descendants, symbolising wisdom, enlightenment, and benevolence. The dragon is also one of the 12 animals featured in the ancient lunar calendar. Those born under the sign of the lunar dragon in 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976 and every 12th preceding year, are said to be ambitious, successful and charismatic.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.9% pure silver, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,888 of the Double Dragon with Mother of Pearl 2oz Silver Proof Coins.

The coin portrays two dragons on a background of clouds, representing their heavenly realm. The mythical creatures surround a precision carved mother of pearl centerpiece featuring  three-dimensional sterling silver representation of the Chinese character for 'dragon'. As well as the inscriptions 'YEAR OF THE DRAGON', the reverse includes a 'P125' mintmark signifying The Perth Mint's 125th Anniversary, along with the coin's weight, purity and year-date.

The obverse features the Daniel Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles II, and the coin's monetary denomination.

Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin is housed in a classic presentation case with  beautifully illustrated shipper.
