2024 $1 Paris 2024 Paralympic Games Coin & Stamp Cover PNC

Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are taking place from 28 August to 8 September just after the completion of the Paris Olympic Games.

This will be the 17th Summer Paralympic and the first hosted by Paris.

Around 4,400 athletes will participate in a program that includes 22 sports an 23 disciplines, with 549 events taking place across 269 sessions.

Australia has participated in every Paralympics except for 1976 Winter Paralympics and will be sending a team of around 170 athletes, Para-swimming and Para-cycling. 

At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Australia won 21 gold medals and 80 overall.

The opening ceremony will take place at the Place de la Concorde and the event venues include the Grand Palais, Les Invalides and Champ de Mars and outside Paris, the gardens of the Chateau de Versailles and the National Shooting Centre at Chateauroux.

Issued a Australian legal tender, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a card with a circular window revealing the coin's reverse and obverse designs.

The reverse of the coin the coloured Paralympic Coin.

The coin's obverse bears the Dan Thomas effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.

Featuring an uncirculated coin from the Royal Australian Mint along with a commemorative Postage Paid Australia Post envelope.
