The Perth Mint has just released this 1oz silver bullion coin celebrating an iconic Australia marsupial.
The wombat is a sturdy quadruped found in forested, mountainous and heathland areas of eastern Australia and Tasmania.
With powerful limbs and sharp flat claws, it is ideally built for digging. At up to one meter in length, it is one of the largest burrowing animals in the world.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, the coin is issued as Australian legal tender under the Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 2,500 of the Wombat 2024 1oz Silver Coloured Coins in Card.
The coin features a coloured representation of one of Australia's best-known marsupials - the wombat.
As well as The Perth Mint's 'P' Mintmark, the reverse includes the coin's weight, purity and 2024 year-date.
The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the monetary denomination.
Each coin's reverse includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
The Wombat 2024 1oz Silver Coloured Coin is presented in a themed presentation card.
