2023 Poppies of Remembrance Prestige Covers - Set of 3This set consists of 1 Red Poppy Prestige Cover - For Service and Sacrifice, 1 White Poppy Prestige Cover - For peace and all war victims, 1 Purple Poppy Prestige Cover - For animals in war.Red - For Service and Sacrifice - The Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League of Australia, the forerunner to the Returned and Services League (RSL), began selling red silk poppies just over 100 years ago, in 1921. The poppies were sold to be worn as badges and as a source of fundraising in the lead-up to Armistice Day (now Remembrance Day). This prestige collectable cover includes a magnetic red poppy badge, based on the stamp artwork. The stamp design cleverly brings together silhouettes of service personnel to form a poppy shape. These include representatives from the Navy, Airforce and Army.White - For peace and all war victims - The white poppy is an international symbol of remembrance for all casualties of war, whether civilians or armed forces personnel. A symbol of peace, it seeks to encourage unity and hope and to challenge attempts to glamorize war. While not featured on a large scale in Australia, it is gaining traction. Some see it as an alternative to the red poppy, others see it as complementary and choose to wear both. This prestige collectable cover includes a magnetic white poppy badge, based on the stamp artwork. The stamp design cleverly brings together silhouettes of a nurse, child, man and woman to form a poppy shape.Purple - For Animals in war - The purple poppy commemorates animal victims of war and human violence. Like humans, animals living in war zones suffer from the effects of war - injury, stress, lack of food and water. Animals have been put to many uses in war. In the context of Australian forces, these important tasks have included tracking by dogs, transport of soldiers and equipment by horses, camels and donkeys, and message delivery by pigeons. This prestige collectable cover includes a magnetic purple poppy badge, based on the stamp artwork. The stamp design cleverly brings together silhouettes of a horse, dog, camel and pigeon to form a poppy shape. The stamp illustrations use silhouettes to form each coloured poppy, the silhouettes representing those being remembered - literally placing them at the heart.Fixed to the envelope is a $1.20 Australia Post stamp which is post marked First Day of Issue and the envelope includes Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity.Postmarked 24 October 2023 Canberra ACT 2601Denomination :         MedallionMetal :                     Zinc alloy with enamel fill badgeWeight :                  TBADiameter :               26mmMintage :                 3,000 (each Prestige Cover)Australia Post Seal of AuthenticitySerial Numbers will vary from photographs
