2022 50c Christmas in Australia Coin & Stamp Cover PNCTwo age-old sentiments of Christmas - "Peace" and "Joy" - are the themes of Australia's 2022 Christmas Stamp issue, one word being shown on each stamp. The colourful letters that form the words are set against a graphic rendition of the Christmas Star. The stamp denomination of 65c is the concessional postage applying to greeting card mailed during November and December each year. Whether or not people are involved in the Christmas festival, Christmas is a happy time.For Australians, it is the beginning of the summer holiday season. It is a time to celebrate with family and friend and a time for generosity and enjoyment.Depicted on the coin, the Christmas Beetle is a distinctive Australian characteristic of the Christmas season. It is the common name of the beetle genusAnophlognathus, which is abundant around Christmas. These large beetles typically have elytra (forewings) that are dark or light brown, or green. The genus has about 35 species found all over Australia except in deserts. The larvae spend all year underground feeding on plant roots and decaying organic matter.
