K is for Kelpie – the preferred breed of farm dog and are known for their intelligence, agility and athleticism. Once trained, they are a tremendous asset to farmers and an inexpensive worker that can efficiently control herds of cattle and sheep.

Kelpies are known to jump up on sheep backs to quickly move to the other side of the herd. Medium sized, the kelpie comes in a range of colours including black, red, blue, fawn and tan and a combination of two colours.

They generally have a soft, short coat with pricked ears and can weigh up to 27 kilograms.

Each coin is housed in a card and envelope with the corresponding letter.

Each coin is issued as Australian legal tender.
