2016 Great Britain £5 Queens 90th Birthday Prestige Coin & Stamp Cover PNCThis Prestige PNC has been released by The Royal Mint to celebrate the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is the first reigning British Monarch to celebrate such a milestone. During May and June, the Queen’s public birthday celebrations will include a retrospective of the Queen’s lige and remarkable reign, from her birth in 1926 through to becoming the longest reigning British monarch in 2015.The young Princess Elizabeth witnessed her father accede to the throne in 1937. In 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, and in 1948 the current heir to the throne, Prince Charles, was born. Princess Elizabeth became Queen on 6 February 1952, following the death of her father, King George VI, and her coronation was held on 2 June 1953. The Queen celebrated her silver jubilee in 1977, golden jubilee in 2002 and diamond jubilee in 2012.To celebrate this very special occasion, the Royal Mint of the United Kingdom has issued a series of coins, including the uncirculated £5 coin featured in this prestige postal and numismatic cover.
