2016 $1 Year of the Monkey Coin and Stamp Cover PNC.
The Perth Mint and Australia Post have released this coin and stamp cover to celebrate The Year of the Monkey. In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Monkey – 1920, 1932, ,19344, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004 and 2016 are regarded as intelligent, quick-witted, optimistic, ambitious and adventurous.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverser and obverse designs.
This beautiful Stamp and Coin Cover will make a superb gift or collectable.
The reverse of the coin features an adult monkey and a baby monkey sitting in a peach tree. The baby is holding a peach, which is symbolic of longevity and immortality.
The Chinese character for ‘monkey’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Monkey’ also appear in the design with The Perth mint’s traditional ‘P’ Mintmark.The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2016 year-date, and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse. The stamps features a stylised monkey image and the Chinese character for monkey.
Affixed to the envelope are two official Australia Post $1 and $3 stamps.
The stamps are postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
