2016 $1 Star Trek : Spock Coin & Stamp Cover PNC.
SPOCK – The first Vulcan to attend Starfleet Academy, Spock is regarded as the finest officer in the fleet. His father is a Vulcan ambassador, his mother a schoolteacher from earth. Spock’s Vulcan nature is constantly at war with his human side.
Because he was never able to fit in on either Vulcan or Earth, Spock considers Starfleet his true home. He is intensely loyal to Captain Kirk. The Perth Mint and Australia Post have released this PNC to celebrate 50 Years of Star Trek with this unique cover.Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, these uncirculated aluminium bronze coins are housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.
SPOCK : The coin’s reverse features a colour image of the actor Leonard Nimoy (1931-2015) giving the Vulcan salute as Spock as he appeared in Star Trek, against a representation of the IDIC Vulcan symbol and the inscription SPOCK.
The design also includes The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ Mintmark.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2016 year-date and the monetary denomination are featured on the coins obverse.
