The tenth and final release in the popular Australian Map Shaped Coin Series features the dingo, a wild dog found in all parts of Australia.
The dingo is an Australian wild canine which is believed to have descended from semi-domesticated dogs in East or South Asia.
They are said to have arrived in Australia approximately 5,000 years ago
.The dingo is a medium sized dog ranging in colour from sandy yellow to red ginger.
The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz 99.9% pure silver and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 6,000 of the Australian Map Shaped Coin Series - Dingo 2016 1oz Silver Coins.The coin's reverse features a dingo in front of a rock heap in the Australian desert. The design includes the inscription DINGO, The Perth Mint's 'P' Mintmark and the 2016 year-date.
This coin is innovatively struck in the shape of Australia.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination and the 2016 year-date appear on the obverse.
Each coin is housed in a grey presentation case and custom-designed shipper, and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
