2013 Australia's Age of Dinosaurs Medallion Cover PNCAustralia's Age of Dinosaurs - Timimus.During the Cretaceous period (around 145.5 million years to 65.5 million years ago) Australia was inhabited by prehistoric animals including dinosaurs. This stamp issue features some of these animals that lived in what is now eastern Australia from the cold polar conditions of southern Victoria to the more temperate climate of Queensland. This is the first glow-in-the-dark medallion produced by Australia Post. Timimus was a small dinosaur that lived in the early Cretaceous, around 106 million years ago, in the polar forests of Victoria. It was carnivorous, a distant relative of Tyrannosaurus rex, around 1.5m high and stood on two legs. It had powerful hind legs for running, making it an agile predator. Fossilised bones of Timimus were first found at Dinosaur Cove, near Lavers Hill in Southern Victoria. The envelope includes a 60c commemorative Australia Post stamps and is postmarked First Day of Issue 24th September 2013 at Inverloch VIC 3996.The envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.Denomination : MedallionQuality : UncirculatedMetal : Brass with Antique Brass FinishWeight : 58.00 gmsDiameter : 60 mmMintage : 5,000Certificate of Authenticity : Australia Post Seal of AuthenticityAdvertising Date : 2013Release Date : 2013Shipping Date : 2013
