2011 $1 Working Dogs – Australian Cattle Dog 1oz Silver Proof Coin
Following on from the previous two releases the third in this exciting series features the Australia Cattle Dog – ‘Blue Heeler’ or ‘Red Heeler’ as it is commonly know.
The Australian Cattle Dog is a breed of herding dog developed for droving cattle over long distances.
A courageous and tireless worker, the Australian Cattle Dog is an intelligent and athletic companion and a loving family pet.
The dogs have either red-brown or blue0black hair and motivate reluctant sheep by nipping at their heels – hence the dogs’ affectionate nickname, ‘Red Heeler’ or ‘Blue Heeler’.
The coin’s reverse portrays an adult Australian Cattle Dog and a puppy in colour, set against background silhouettes of rural scenery. As well as a decorative pattern of paw prints, the coin’s reverse also includes the inscriptions WORKING DOGS and AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG – HERDING DOG.3rd of five Releases
