2011 $1 Bush Babies Bilby Coin and Stamp Cover PNC

The Perth Mint and Australia Post have just released the next release in this adorable series featuring iconic baby animals.

This coin and stamp cover features an Australian Bilby, a beloved desert-dwelling marsupial that is nocturnal.

The bilby lives in burrows underground to protect itself from the heat and predators.

 Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card which fits inside a similarly illustrated envelope with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.

In this outstanding design, Elise Martinson portrays a little bilby with its eyes bright and alert.

The baby bilby is set against a background of native flowers and foliage.

The design includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
