2007 $1 60th Anniversary of Australian Peacekeeping Uncirculated Coin in CardAustralia first sent UN Peacekeepers into Indonesia in 1947.Since then more than 30,000 Australians have served in various peacekeeping missions throughout the world. Australian Peacekeepers have come from the Army, Navy, Airforce, Police Service and various other civilian groups.Through their courage and compassion many people affected by the conflicts have been helped.The 60th Anniversary of Australian Peacekeeping $1 has been released in recognition of Australia's strong commitment. Creating awareness of the sacrifice made by our Peacekeepers.The coin depicts the hepling hands of Australia cradling the globe, with a olive branch and a dove - a symbol of peace.This important project has been developed in partnership with Australian Peacekeeping Memorial Project (APMP) and the Australian War Memorial.The APMP are raising funds to develop a national memorial to be built on Anzac Parade while the Australian War Memorial will research and write a four-volume book - "The Official History of Australian Peacekeeping and Post Cold War Operations".Struck from aluminium bronze measuring 25mm in diameter and weighing just 9 grams each coin is presented in uncirculated condition in a full colour pack.
